A local Clearwater military member will have one less thing to worry about this rainy season she received a brand new roof for free! Southeastern Roofing & Construction, Owens Corning, and Support Our Troops made this dream a reality. "The Roof Deployment Project" is a way to show gratitude to the soldiers who tirelessly serve our country and the families who support them, Owens Corning™ Roofing.
On February 1, 2017 these organizations built a new roof for Florida National Guardsman Kerilynn Johnson who tells us this is very special to her because it was her childhood home.
“Owens Corning is truly proud to give back to Kerilynn and the military community,” said Bill Mabry, Contractor Network Leader, Owens Corning Roofing and Asphalt. “Many military families face added stress with having a loved one away from home and Owens Corning’s and our network of Platinum Preferred Contractors are stepping up to help these families.”
“We were so excited to hear of the opportunity to do something for Kerilynn right here in our own backyard,” said Michael Kappaz, Owner of Southeastern Roofing & Construction, LLC. “It’s a great honor to be a part of a project that allows us to utilize our own expertise to give back to those servicemen and women who sacrifice so much for us.”
Soldiers are often away from home for long periods of time and, as a result, it can easily take a toll on their families. According to Blue Star Families’ 2014 Military Family Lifestyle Survey, nearly 40 percent of military spouses feel stressed most or all of the time, and one of the top stressors is household responsibilities.
Through the Roof Deployment Project, Owens Corning Roofing and its network of independent Platinum Preferred Contractors aim to lessen the stressors that can weigh hard on military families’ daily lives. With help from Support Our Troops®, a 501(c)(3) public purpose charity, Kerilynn was selected. Owens Corning plans to conduct many more builds this year and beyond.
“The Roof Deployment Project makes a huge difference in military families’ lives and Support Our Troops is honored to be a part of this program,” said Martin C. Boire, Executive Director of Support Our Troops®. “We couldn’t think of anyone better to receive a new roof than Kerilynn.”
